Since 1712, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Fiestas de Santa Fe is held. One of the primary elements of this celebration is the burning of the Zozobra, or “Old Man Gloom.” While the burning has occurred since 1912, the 2007 edition was classified as a Guinness World Record at 49 feet, 11 inches tall.
